Wedding Weekend

Tonight the rehearsal. Tomorrow Marrying the man of my dreams. And Sunday we will be on a boat heading towards some of the most beautiful islands in the world. It is crazy how fast time flies.It seems like just a short while ago that I was reiterating the engagement story to every single family member, which for me is big. I can remember jokingly counting down the days back when it was in the 200s. I quickly stopped that because it made me too anxious. I remember laughing and crying with my dad when we would start singing certain songs or thinking about me leaving, but now its right. The perfect timing. We have been blessed so much through this endeavor and through it all James and my faith have come out stronger.

I have a feeling that the next few nights of sleep that I get will feel like Christmas Eve did as a kid. The sleep where it takes me a long time to fall asleep because I am so excited for the next day that I don't want to sleep but know that if I don't get some hours I will be cranky. Not only do you get deprived on the front end of sleep but also on the back end. Two days in a row I have either gotten up with my alarm or before it goes off. Definitely a rare occurance for me since I normally snooze for quite some time. Sidenote: My snooze habit is something that James claims he will definitely be "fixing". :) But there is no doubt about it, we are excited and ready.

James and I are excited to see all of our family and friends, some of which drove long hours through winding roads and yelling Garmins to get here. We are so glad you all could share this day with us. One day away and almost all of the projects are done. It will be a busy day and I can't wait to see you all tomorrow evening!

The Final Countdown

With less than four weeks to go from 12.11.10, things are really starting to fall into place. Our faith is growing daily by seeing all the pieces that God is putting in place. We knew he would and now it is happening.

This past week I accepted a job offer with a public accounting firm, Carr Riggs and Ingram LLC, to start in January. We are so excited as we both believe this to be the perfect firm to start my career at. In addition to that we were able to nail down a place to live very quickly after accepting the job. James will be moving in as early as this Friday. This will give us the opportunity to have a "gentle" move-in and not have to push to get it all done the week before the wedding. We are both very excited about our new location near the Courtney Campbell Causeway as the change in scenery is quite exciting!

As far as wedding planning go, the weekend was very productive as well. Our excitement is really starting to build for the big day. We can't wait to see all of our family and friends share in the day with us! It is actually funny how excited I get everyday when the mail man comes and brings me my RSVPs. I feel like Blue from Blue's Clues. Where he sings...

3 Months and Counting...

According to www.TheKnot.com we are 86 days away from 12.11.10. If it weren't for that updating calendar I think I would be okay with saying 3 months. The "day" countdown will officially commence on December 2nd.

The bulk of wedding planning is almost over. We visited our cake baker this week to create a design for the wedding. That appointment concluded the big things that needed to be done for the wedding. Now we are down to the details and as my grandmother said yesterday, "well, the devil is in the details." Not entirely sure what that exactly means but it doesn't sound good. Maybe it means not to stress too much about the details and get all hung up about them because in the end they are just details. To me the details are the most fun. They are the elements that make or break an event. They can give insight into who James and I are and show our personality.

We can't wait to see all of you very very soon!!!

4 More Months and Counting....

At this point the feeling is so strange. It is absolutely crazy how fast time has flown by. What was once 12 months away is now only 4 months away, but at the same time it feels like forever away. The past few weeks of "summer break" have been very productive as far as wedding plans go. As far as my summer tan goes....not as productive as I would have liked but that is alright.

Next Friday the 20th James graduates from the police academy. I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished in the past 6 months. It is amazing how much a man can accomplish when he sets his mind to it and I am so proud to be his wifey for lifey in 4 months. I am also very excited to see the doors that God
will open for him as he is finding the right agency to start his career as an officer. Over the course of the past few weeks Phillipians 4:6 has constantly been reminding me that I don't have all the answers and I don't have everything lined up perfectly and all my t's aren't crossed and all my i's aren't dotted...but I'm realizing that that's okay. My natural tendency is to want to have everything figured out ahead of time so I know for sure that it will all be okay. Basically I am completely relying on my own ability to perform. But with James not knowing which department he will be with it is really hard to plan all the details that will "make me feel better". What I have had to realize is that when I rely on myself I show no faith that my God will provide. When I'm relying on myself there is no opportunity to lean into Him.

And most importantly when I rely on my own performance I fail to see the big picture and the overall direction and where we are headed. I miss the WAY bigger plans that He has for me because of my narrow perspective on it all. I can't even begin to fathom the awesome opportunities coming and the places he
is taking us and the blessings that are coming. If I try to control every detail then I will forgo that awesome chance for Him to step in and piece everything perfectly together. It is so exciting and nerve-wracking at the
same time, but isn't that what faith is all about? Letting go of what I know for sure to cling to something that can't be seen but something that I know is there.

It is pretty cool how God pairs you with the perfect person to (to be cliche) complete you. James is
not a details guy... he is a big picture guy. Sometimes it really irks me. Like "Babe did you not notice that by helping me you just made me have to do more work...." haha but sometimes his big picture outlook is exactly what I need. I need someone to say woah woah babe chill. You're giving me paralysis from analysis or you are looking to much into this. Someone who can say well we know that this is where we are going and all the rest will just work out because God's got our back. He amazing me with how much faith he has where
despite the circumstances around us and all the loose ends he never questions. For that and so much more, I love you babe! Katie

Wedding Update

22 days left until the fall semester begins. Only 22 more days completing my intense wedding list to do's. Cake tastings....Caterer...DJ...Invitations....and so much more will hopefully be finished before heading back to school. Classes begin August 23 and go until December 3 with finals the week before the wedding! What a great ending the wedding will be to finals week. 

Officer James is almost done with the Police Academy. He graduates on August 20th. I can not believe how fast 6 months have flown by. It is absolutely crazy. Before we know it, it will be 12.11.10 and we will be Mr. and Mrs. James Fleming! Katie

Rehearsal Dinner

Friday was by far a very productive wedding day. With the help of my mom, Julie, and James’ mom, Amy, we were able to find the rehearsal dinner spot and book it. What get ‘er done ladies I have in my life! Love it!
 
I am not going to spill too many beans but let me just say that I am super duper excited about the venue for the rehearsal dinner. It will definitely not be your traditional rehearsal dinner. It will be out of the ordinary but will provide opportunity for a fun night!
 
Since James has never met a lot of my family and I have not met a lot of his family it will be the perfect setting to get to know one another. I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone on his side of the family and so does he!!! Katie

Honeymoon

Honeymoon details have yet to be fully confirmed but as far as ideas go James and I have an idea of what we are looking for. We are hoping to find a cruise to the Caribbean that will leave on Sunday December 12th. Both of us love the beach and it will be the perfect relaxing get away for our first week together as husband and wife. Stay tuned for more details as they come in. James & Katie
